CURRICULUM EDUCATION

Birth to three Matters

Birth to three matters is a framework to support children in their earliest years. The framework offers guidance to practitioners providing care and education to babies and children from birth to three years.

Within the framework children's individuality efforts and achievements are recognised at all times and their need to learn through exploration and investigation of the world around them

Parents and families are central to the well-being of every child and a relationship with a key person within their child care setting is essential to young children's overall development and well being. The framework is organised into four aspects:-

  • A Strong Child
  • A Skilful Communicator
  • A Competent Learner
  • A Healthy Child

The Foundation Stage Curriculum

The foundation stage begins when children reach the age of three and continues until the end of reception year at compulsory school.

Children need a well planned and resourced curriculum to take the learning forward.

The curriculum for the foundation stage should underpin all future learning by supporting, fostering, promoting and developing children's:-

  • personal, social and emotional development
  • communication, language and literacy
  • mathematical development
  • knowledge and understanding of the world
  • physical development
  • creative development

We work alongside parents/carers at all times to ensure a positive impact on each child's development and learning. The individual needs of each child are identified through continuous observations and incorporated into weekly planning

The foundation stage curriculum comprises a series of early learning goals that the children work towards.

We provide opportunities for children to engage in adult-led activities in addition to child led play.

Well-planned, purposeful activity and appropriate intervention be practitioners will engage children in the learning process and help them make progress in their learning.
